A crown prince was legally the royal heir of the emperor. To be a emperor in the future for the heir apparent was the normal in feudal China. The royal heir system was a series of laws and regulations system about the heir selection and the heir education, etc. The royal heir system included three aspects what was the heir selection system, the officials of the Eastern Palace system and the heir etiquette system in the Jin Dynasties:About the heir selection system in the Jin Dynasties. It followed the basic principles in the heir selection system, that was the eldest son succession system. When the system was impacted by the society, a new heir selection system would be created by the rulers. When the emperor had the great power, the eldest son succession system would be executed. But when the emperor had no power, a new heir selection system would be executed. The heir selection system was subject to the emperor system. According to the development and change of the society and politics, the rulers would create a new system. This was a unity of principle and flexibilityAbout the officials of the Eastern Palace system in the Jin Dynasties. The crown prince, as shown in the pyramid-like feudal political in feudal system, was only subordinate to the emperor. In addition to training and educating the heir apparent, the officials of the Eastern Palace played also some roles. The Master, Zhan Shi, Wei Shuai was the part time officials,that made the officials in the Central Palace and the officials in the Eastern Palace to be together.All that facilitated the needs of the emperor administration. the officials of the Eastern Palace system was subject to the emperor system. However, the exercise power of the heir apparent was unsuccessful due to political constraint. Shi Dian ritual had a deeper political significance beyonding its studying intention in the Jin Dynasties. The emperor strongly supported and promoted the Shi dian ritual to consolidate the own rule. So the heir etiquette system was subject to the emperor system. And the rules made a adjust by the development and change of society and politics, that was a unity of principle and flexibilityTherefore, the royal heir system had the following characteristics and influence in Jin Dynasties:Firstly, it was subject to the emperor system. Secondly, it was a unity of principle and flexibility.Lastly, the Jin Dynasties, as a transitional period between the past Han and Wei Dynasties and the coming the era of North-South Division,was typical in its royal heir system, that produced great influence on the later feudal China.
