ObjectiveTo explore the status of mental health and its influencing factors of medicalgraduates freshmen, aims at investigating the main psychological problems of themedical graduates freshmen, analyzing the distribution and trendency of medicalpostgraduates’ personality, depression and anxiety and exploring in the correlationwith psychological status, their life background and education background. So it willprovide scientific evidence to intervene the mental health problems for medicalgraduates.MethodsIn the present study,329medical graduates, from grade2009to2013, wererecruited from one university in Henan Province by using cluster sampling andself-reported questionnaire as experimental group. At the same time, medicalundergraduates (330) and non-medical graduates(332from the same university wereselected as control groups. University Personality Inventory (UPI), self-ratingDepression scale (SDS), State-trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) and generalquestionnaire (including gender, ethnicity, residence and other demographics) wereadopted. The investigation and criteria of control group was in accordance withexperimental group. Data was inputted to EpiData3.1and analyzed by SPSS17.0.Results1Survey of991students, include medical students group329, the controlgroup-1330, the control group-2332. There mean age was (22.73±1.545) yearsold and the gender composition are392boys (40%) and599girls (60%).2Personality Questionnaire medical graduate group average (2.82±0.448)points, the overall trend in five consecutive Personality Questionnaire scoresdecreased from2009to2013. Mental abnormality detection rate is rising, Ipsychological abnormality were1.6%,0.0%,4.5%,0.0%,7.1%. II psychologicalproblems were9.5%,6.5%,16.7%,8.8%,17.1%. Self-Rating Depression Scaleaverage (35.71±6.648) points, state anxiety scale average (32.02±6.750) points, Trait Anxiety Inventory average (32.95±6.618) points, and from2009to2013forfive consecutive years of depression, anxiety scores showed an upward trend.3In Personality Questionnaire, key factor "often Insomnia"(3.6%), abnormalpsychology factors "Love worry"(45.9%), cofactors "feel health problems" thehighest detection rate of (6.4%). Fisher exact test analysis showed colleges andfather’s education two factors was statistically significant (P <0.05) groups ofmedical students personality classified. Multiple linear regression analysis showedthat colleges and father’s education two factors on education Medical Graduatesgroup personality scores were statistically significant (P <0.05). Students of differentfamily residence state anxiety and trait anxiety score differences, with statisticalsignificance (P <0.05).4Compare Medicine Graduate and the control group analysis. Use chi-squaretest to compare the classification of personality found I (significant psychologicalproblems) and II (there may be possible psychological problems) detection rate, themedical graduate group (2.7%,12.2%) than the control group1(20.6%,15.5%) andcontrol group2(17.8%,14.8%), and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Use the anxiety score do the t test, found that the average medical graduategroup status anxiety (32.02±6.750) points, trait anxiety average (32.95±6.618)points lower than the control group and the national norm, and the differences werestatistically significant (P <0.05). Use chi-square test found medical students in theclassification of depression and the control group was no statistically significant (P>0.05).5Medical Graduates group personality score, depression score, state anxietyscore, trait anxiety score correlation exists between the four, with statisticalsignificance (P <0.05). Classification and classification of personality depressionwas significantly negatively correlated, personality classification and state anxietyscore, trait anxiety score was significantly negatively correlated, depression andanxiety scores classification was a significant positive correlation.Conclusions1Medical students have varying degrees of psychological problems nearly onefifth, and the detection rate in the past five years showed an increasing trend in mental health problems in the community can not be ignored. Depression andanxiety scores gradually rose in the last five years, depression and anxiety disordersdetection rate also increased year by year, anxiety and depression problems in thepopulation objective existence worthy of attention.2The detection rate is lower than the psychological problems of Medicalundergraduate medical and non-medical graduate student, depression and anxietyscores also slightly lower than medical undergraduates, graduate students andnon-medical national norm.3Medical Graduate groups psychological problems manifested in interpersonalcoordination, mood changes and forced tendencies. Main factors of psychologicalproblems have a father educational level, the level of undergraduate institutions,such as the family residence, undergraduate student at key institutions. The fatherhigh levels of education were more optimistic about the psychological condition,graduate sources of anxiety in rural than urban students seriously.
