Object To investigate the level of mental health of the migrant workers’ children,aswell as exploring the mechanism of life events, coping style, social support andgeneral self-efficacy on their mental health,and to provide a basis on drawing up theinterventions.Method The questionnaires used include general self-efficacy questionnaire,simplified coping style questionnaire, social support scale, adolescent life eventschecklist and symptom checklist90.813junior middle school students are selected asthe subjects,they come from four middle schools in two cities of Henan Province.Thestatistial methods which we used are t test,2test, pearson correlationanalysis,multiple regression analysis.Results1. the psychological problems of migrant workers’ children are more serious thanthe local urban students. The rate of migrant workers’ children with psychologicalproblem is68.7%. in total score and every factor score of SCL-90,migrant workers’children have higher scores than the local urban students, female students have higherscores than male students.The difference was statistically significant(p<0.05).2. The migrant workers’ children have lower general self-efficacy and highernegative coping scores than the local urban children. The female students have higherpositive coping scores than the male students,the difference was statisticallysignificant(p<0.05). 3. The migrant workers’ children have lower subjective support than the localurban students. The female students have higher scores than male students in the totalscore of social support and the three dimension, the differences were statisticallysignificant(p<0.05).4. The migrant workers’ children have higher scores than the local urban studentsin learning pressure and punished. The migrant workers’ children’ major life eventsare learning pressure, punished and interpersonal relationship. There was no statisticaldifference in gender.5. The general self-efficacy, positive coping style, social support were protectivefactors for mental health, negative coping style and life events are risk factors formental health. The general self-efficacy, coping style and life events have a directeffect on mental health, the social support has an indirect effect on mental health. Thefour factors can explain30%variation of mental health.Conclusion1. the level of migrant workers’ children’ mental health was lower than the localurban students.2. Having low the general self-efficacy, using negative coping style, lack ofsubjective social support, suffering the learning pressure and being punished are themajor factor for migrant workers’ children’mental health.3. The general self-efficacy, positive coping style, social support are protectivefactors for mental health, negative coping style and life events are risk factors formental health.
