Contemporary realistic oil painting in the flow of world art has been gradually marginalized, butin China, the land is full of other life. In the process of learning and creation, in the deep feelings of theChinese realistic oil painting of strong vitality at the same time, I also have some confusion. The Chineserealistic oil painting has been booming in the contemporary China with multiple reasons. This articleattempts to discuss from several aspects, find the deep reason through the analysis of a variety of reasons, find out the problem facing Chinese realistic oil painting, and predict the development direction of Chineserealistic oil painting in the future to provide theoretical thinking and support. The thinking of writing of thisarticle is from the definition and development situation of realistic oil painting to the value and significance,to the cause of the contemporary realistic oil painting’s booming in China, and finally, to discussing theexisting problems in the realistic oil painting and the future development direction. The new argument of this paper is to find out the cause of the Chinese realistic oil painting’sbooming in the contemporary from the aesthetic thought of Chinese traditional culture. The aestheticthought of Chinese traditional culture is about the attention of reality, the feeling of life and the pursuit ofbeauty etc. of Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism. By the authenticityattention to these ideas to the real andemotional world, the paper will discuss the traditional culture of China’s impact on the development ofContemporary realistic oil painting in China. In addition, from the broad sense, the ancient Chinese paintinghas many realistic factors. Traditional Chinese realistic painting is one of the representatives. There are alsomany realistic factors in the traditional Chinese painting. Chinese traditional culture and traditionalpainting’s effect on the realistic factors, the development of economy, the increasing of culture and artexchanges for the promotion of realistic painting, the adverse effects of the mass aesthetic consciousness ofpainting, the improvement of the education system and the influence of the development of publicresources, have all provided favorable conditions to the development of realistic painting. At the same time, the development of realistic oil painting is also facing many challenges.Modern art on the impact of the realistic oil painting is the biggest of all. However, modern art has its own shortcomings when it has thought of liberation and unprecedented development. When theboundary of art and life has been broken, the relativity from traditional painting has been changed to therelative uncertainty of modern art. We find that when the art creation gets the great infinite possibilities, itfaces a crisis at the same time. Modern art has no definite restrictive rules like traditional painting. Ittouches our bottom line of art appreciation. The behavior of art which harms oneself and others alsotouches the ethics and moral bottom line, and tortures our mind. If we admit that the artistic creation is free,so whether this kind of freedom should be a bottom line or not and whether it should be artistic beautywhich presents a kind of positive, friendliness and respect for the human being, the society and the life inthe artistic creation and art form or not. Realistic painting is working hard to bear this historical missionwhen it is hit. Modern painting problems arouse people’s vigilance and reflection. We have reason tobelieve that realistic painting will have the basis of existence and broad prospect for development in thefuture.
