In traditional translation activities, translators only work as "maid" and"servant" to carry out with the principles of "faithful" and "equivalence" behindthe efforts of translation activities. Until the happening of "pragmatic turn" and"cultural shift" in the1970s, the Chinese scholars began to focus from "textstudy" to " subject study". Thus translation subjectivity has increasingly beenconcerned. As one of the branches, the research on the translator’s subjectivity isreceived unprecedented attention. For the over-study on "the translatorsubjectivity", it made the research goes for away from the main trend. It is thereason of the study on "translator subjectivity" stagnant.In fact, the "translator subjectivity" is not without limit, for any initiative ofplay must have its conditionality as a precondition. However, at present, thestudy on the "translator’s subjectivity constraints," is very weak. And on itsfindings, the majority of results are simple to explore and subjective judgments atthe theoretical level, few people dig deep to practice analysis and translation onspecific cases. This paper attempts to use hermeneutics, functional translationtheory and other related discourse on the basis of previous studies, the use ofcomparative analysis and case study method, by comparing two Japanesetranslations of the work of Xiao Hong’“hand”, to analyze the translation theresults for different reasons. In order to clarify the process of translation of thetranslator subjectivity is restricted by various factors, such as the translator’s ownaesthetic standards, language culture, the level of ideology, and so on. Thepurpose is to further deepen the study of the translator’s subjectivity, and topromote the research and development of literary translation subjectivity. We alsohope to provide some reference for the Chinese and Japanese translation andcomments.The paper constitutes of five chapters. Chapter one is introduce, mainly introduce the background and content of research topics, methods, purpose andthe meaning. Chapter tow combs the theories on translator’s subjectivity, in thischapter, the questions are raised. From chapter three to chapter four is the mainpart of this paper, it analyses the tow versions of “hand” from aesthetic standards,language culture and ideology to explore the main factors that limited translator’ssubjectivity. Finally, the paper reviews and summaries the full text and pointedout shortcomings and future research directions.
