In the late1970s, the historical cultural documentary of our country hadgradually come into people’s view. After more than thirty years of development, it hadconverted into market requirement of new century from the state discourse before1980s and the national memory in1990s. Around2005, the historical culturaldocumentary of our country sharply rose again, and gained recognition of audiencesby using entertainment-oriented methods and technological communication means. Atthe same time, it popularized the mainstream values through creating commercialaesthetics, provided audio-visual enjoyment to the public by adopting advancedshooting technology, and made Chinese culture spread worldwide by using emergingnetwork media. Its excellent works not only represent the high level of thedocumentary in our country and exert far-reaching significance to the documentaryindustry, but also involve new features in creation, communication and other aspects.Initially, due to the stimulation of market economy and audience rating, theinfluence of visual culture and sensory culture and the impact of increasingcommunication platforms and new media, the creation of historical culturaldocumentary in our country has present a new trend in recent ten years. Firstly, thecreative ideas, such as the theme of popularity and internationalization and the contentof dictation and image record, have become people-oriented. Secondly, the narrativestyles, such as historical center of human character, parallel of suspense and doubts,combination of omniscience and interior and stress on both diversification andemotion, have highlighted the stories,. Thirdly, the making methods, such as the focuson visual effect of wonder experience, the emphasis on voice element of se nse impact,have adopted the new technology.Additionally, during the transition of the historical cultural documentary of ourcountry in recent ten years, the new feature such as multiple development of mediaand multi-dimensional expansion of communication function have emerged. Hereinto,the latter can be promoted by using “historical heat” to establish media brand, using“historical culture” to popularize intellectual attainment and using “historical value”to promote cultural soft power.Finally, there are considerable realistic difficulties in creation andcommunication of the historical cultural documentary in our country, which are manifested as the lack of competitive works and superior creation, less of mediaresources and media occupation and the insufficient market operation and overseascommunication. How to use effective measures, such as increasing the creativeelements of commercial aesthetics, enhancing the communication efficiency ofmultiple media and emphasizing the operation methods of marketing, have become thekey to the creation and communication development of the historical culturaldocumentary in our country.
