/Can’t Think Straight is a novel written by Shamim Sarif, a female British writer. At the end of the year2012, the author took part in a translation program of Shanghai Oriental Translation Center and translated Chapter One to Chapter Three of this novel. The report was written on the basis of this translation practice.Proposed by Sperber and Wilson in the year of1986, Relevance Theory has been serving as a guidance of literary translation for a very long time. When doing the translation of the source text, the author also referred to some views of Relevance Theory. During the translation process, the author summarized the problems and difficulties found at both the lexical level and the syntactic level, compared and analyzed several cases from the source text, and tried to give possible solutions according to Relevance Theory. Through this report, it can be seen that Relevance Theory could be effectively applied to literary translation and provide translation strategies for many difficult points.
