| The Qixi (Double Seventh Night) Festival is a ancient traditional festival of the Chinese nation. In different dynasties, its history has experienced different changes in the formation, prevalent, decline and revival of customs. The developments and changes of the Qixi Festival in a particular dynasty is an important issue. The Qixi Festival in the Northern Dynasties inherited Chinese traditional festival customs, and also by the influence of foreign cultures, which is showing different features from Qixi Festival in other Dynasties. The Qixi Festival in the Northern Dynasties is a product of cultural exchange and a witness of friendly exchanges between Chinese and foreign. This article discusses the Qixi Festival in the Northern Dynasties from four stages:The first chapter explains the special social background through describing the history and cultural exchanges of Northern Dynasties, and also introduces the Zoroastrianism, which was incoming china in Northern Dynasties. The second chapter discusses horseback archery customs of Qixi Festival in Northern Dynasties on the historical literature, by contrast with the Qixi Festival in the other Dynasties. The third chapter is under domestic and international archaeological discoveries, historical relics, combining literature, analysis how the Zoroastrianism influenced the horseback archery customs. The fourth chapter is to prove the horseback archery in Qixi Festival is from Zoroastrianism by discussing the Po Hanhu Custom in Sui and Tang dynasties.This article takes the Sino-foreign cultural exchanges as a research point of view, systematically discusses the Zoroastrianism impact on the Chinese Qixi Festival especially on the Qixi Festival in the Northern Dynasties. Hope that through this research to explore new research topics in the field of festivals studies by the research of Qixi Festival in the Northern Dynasties. |
