The Study Of Sichuan Morality Books From The Performance Perspective

The Performance of Morality Books as a Folk Art, has prevailed in the west and east of Sichuan province for260years. As early as the1920s, a lot of international and domestics academics started to study the Morality Books from different perspectives. There are two new trends in the study of folklore:The study perspectives transfers from a universal community to a local community and also from literary text to the situational contexts. Actually, there are substantial connections between the literary text and the situational contexts and the Performance of Morality Book just like a bridge between them.The thesis mainly includes five parts:the first part introduces the research background, study status, methodology and the scopes of the main topic. The second part defines and explains the intension and extension of Morality Books. The third part focuses on the most remarkable features of the performance based on the stories of Sichuan Morality books and tries to build an interpretative frame. The forth part is trying to find the communicational frame hiding in the performance of Morality books through the fieldwork and the study of the documents. The fifth part mainly discusses the historical context of Morality Books and the possibility of inheritance and development in the modern world.
