With the development of philosophy,history,literature and art theories under the postmodern trend of thought,the new visual art revolution has injected new vitality into contemporary photography in China.Contemporary photography in China is showing multiple narrative forms.In recent years,among the many emerging image art media,photobooks independently produced and issued by photographers have become one of the most popular and concerned art media.As a new wave of rapid development,the academic circle has not yet established a complete and comprehensive theoretical system for photobooks.Many definitions are still controversial and many issues are still inconclusive.What is certain is that photobooks have brought a brand-new expression for contemporary photography,and its media characteristics have brought more possibilities for narrative behavior of image art.This paper is divided into four parts.The first part is based on the multiple perspectives in contemporary photography and the local culture and current situation,trying to elaborate the changing Chinese image narrative strategy.The second part sorts out the fragmented theory and specific cases,discusses the narrative form of photobooks.And on this basis,it classifies the current photobooks,makes a more in-depth analysis of their media characteristics and narrative characteristics,studies the relationship between different materials or texts used in photobooks,and summarizes a reasonable methodology.The third part thinks about the creation trend of photobooks and puts forward the hidden problems and challenges in the current situation.The fourth part elaborates the creative thinking and practical process of the original photobook work based on the research.The work is based on personal experience and innovated in technique,aiming at seeking the essence of photography and exploring the personal differences of viewers and the influence of subconscious mind on the interpretation of image works.
