Purpose:To explore the differences in event-related potential P300between patients withsocial anxiety disorder and the healthy controls, and to investigate the features of theauditory-event-related potential of the patients. To explore the effects of self-confidence group psychological intervention onpatients with social anxiety disorder through changes of symptoms and event-relatedpotential after intervention.Object:All80patients were collected from the First Hospital of Shanxi MedicalUniversity and the Hospital of CAPF Shanxi Corps, The entire76healthy controlswere collected through open recruitment from the patients`families in the FirstHospital of Shanxi Medical University, and students of Shanxi Medical Universityand Staff Medical College. Under the completely randomized principle, the80patients were divided into a study group and a control group, each with40patients.Methods:Techniques and methods in the fields of psychology, sociology, iatrology andbiology were integrated for this study. The psychological intervention method forsetting self-confidence group therapy was cross-sectional (case-control) andlongitudinal (tracking evaluations on intervention). The study group received10treatments within5weeks, and each treatment lasted for3hours. The control groupdidn`t receive any treatment. The American Nicolet Bravo brain evoked potentiometer was utilized to getP300data from patients and healthy controls. Also the Social Anxiety Scale, SocialAvoidance and Distress Scale, Self-Rating Anxiety Scale, Self-Esteem Scale andP300were utilized to evaluate the intervention impacts in the periods of pre treatment,3months after treatment and6months after treatment. The collected data for this study was statistically analyzed by chi-square tests,independent-sample t tests, analysis of variance with repeated measurement and othermethods.Results:1. The outcome of analyzing the features of event related potentials P300of thepatients with social anxiety:Through independent sample t-tests, the significant differences in P300latencyand amplitude between patients and healthy controls were discovered (P <0.05). Interms of P300latency, the social anxiety disorder patients have prolonged N2, P3a,P3b, and curtate N1, P2. In terms of amplitude, P3a and P3b amplitude decreased, while N2and P2amplitude increased compared with healthy group.2. The outcome of analyzing the contribution of self-confidence grouppsychological intervention to alleviating social anxiety disorder symptoms.Through analysis of variance with repeated measurements, the data from theSocial Anxiety Scales, Social Avoidance and Distress Scales, Self-Rating AnxietyScales and Self-Esteem Scales between the study group and the control group showedsignificant differences among treatments (F=20.422, P<0.001; F=33.754, P<0.001;F=65.404, P<0.001; F=11.239, P=0.001). These4scales had trends to change overtime (F=120.080, P<0.001; F=7.099, P<0.001; F=54.068, P<0.001; F=143.503,P<0.001), and the role of time factor differed between two groups (F=18.777,P<0.001; F=16.827, P<0.001; F=52.275, P<0.001; F=24.864, P<0.001). Furtherpairwise comparisons among these4scales revealed that the study group had agreater significant change than the control group in post-test and follow-up study(P<0.001).3.The outcome of analyzing the contribution of self-confidence grouppsychological intervention to the changes of P300.Through analysis of variance with repeated measurements, The latencies of N1,N2, P2, P3a, P3b of the study group and the control group had significant differencesamong treatments (F=6.824, P=0.012; F=8.028, P=0.007; F=4.498, P=0.040;F=5.850, P=0.020; F=8.038, P=0.007). The P300latency had trends to change over time (F=4.391, P=0.022; F=18.934, P<0.001; F=4.358, P=0.016; F=6.133, P=0.003;F=3.754, P=0.033), and the role of time factor is differed between two groups(F=4.822, P=0.016; F=7.143, P=0.001; F=4.292, P=0.017; F=4.552, P=0.013;F=12.845, P<0.001). Further pairwise comparisons, which compared the P300data ofthe study group and the control group from different time points, revealed that bothgroups had greater significant changes in follow-up study and post test. The pairwisecomparisons among the data from different time points of both groups revealed thatthe differences between pre test and post test of the study group carried no statisticalsignificance, while the differences between pre test and follow-up study carriedstatistical significances. Neither the study group nor the control group had significantchange in pre and post P300amplitude experiments.Conclusion:1. Patients with social anxiety carried cognitive dysfunction and abnormalchanges in event related potentials P300.2. Self-confidence group psychological intervention contributed in increasingself-esteem and self-confidence, and reducing social anxiety, social avoidance anddistress. Self-confident group psychological intervention was greatly effective inalleviating symptoms and solving related problems.3. Self-confidence group psychological intervention greatly changed the P300latencies of social anxiety disorder patients. This proved not only that the cognitivefunction for patients with social anxiety disorder can be alleviated by self-confidencegroup psychological intervention, but also P300can be utilized as an index tomeasure the level of social anxiety cognition...
