There are lots of dictionaries from Song Dynasty to Ming Dynasty. Wang Shu’s<Lei Pian> in the Song Dynasty, Han Daozhao’s<Wu Yin Lei Ju Si Sheng Pian Hai> in the Jin Dynasty and Mei Yingzuo’s<Zi Hui> in the Ming Dynasty have important positions in the history of dictionaries and have their distinct characteristics in the usage of indexing component method. Scholars placed extra emphasis on the study of indexing component and arranging Chinese characters in order, but paid less attention to identifying indexing component. They placed extra emphasis on the study of single component dictionary, but didn’t have a contrastive study of the three dictionaries in its historical perspective. The paper systematically researches the evolution of indexing component method in three aspects by comparison, including establishing indexing component, identifying indexing component and arranging Chinese characters in order.The paper consists of text and appendice. The text consists of four chapters. Chapter2, Chapter3and Chapter4are the main points of the paper. Chapter2is the evolution of establishing indexing component, it researches establishing indexing component of the three dictionaries and the comparison of establishing indexing component in the three dictionaries from two aspects, including the brief situation of establishing indexing component and the features of establishing indexing component. Chapter3is the evolution of identifying indexing component, it researches identifying indexing component of the three dictionaries and the comparison of identifying indexing component in the three dictionaries from two aspects, including the principles of identifying indexing component and the features of identifying indexing component. Chapter4is the evolution of arranging Chinese characters in order, it researches arranging Chinese characters in order of the three dictionaries and the comparison of arranging Chinese characters in order in the three dictionaries from two aspects, including arranging indexing component in order and arranging Chinese characters in order. The appendice consists of two parts. Appendice1is "Duokaimen" in<Lei Pian>,<Wu Yin Lei Ju Si Sheng Pian Hai> and<Zi Hui>. Appendice2is a comparison table of identifying indexing component in the three dictionaries.The paper draw some conclusions through research about indexing component method in<Lei Pian>,<Wu Yin Lei Ju Si Sheng Pian Hai> and<Zi Hui>. In the three dictionaries the indexing components were reduced gradually, and the set of the indexing components were reasonable gradually. The identifying indexing component was dominated by the meaning of Chinese characters originally, but there were a lot of identifying indexing component according to the structure of Chinese characters gradually and the theory started from scratch. The arranging Chinese characters in order was perfect gradually. The indexing component were arranged in order according to the structure and the meaning of Chinese characters originally, and they were arranged in order according to phonology gradually and according to strokes of Chinese characters finally. Chinese characters were arranged in order according to phonology originally, and they were arranged in order partly according to strokes of Chinese characters gradually and completely according to strokes of Chinese characters finally. The arranging Chinese characters in order was convenient to look up Chinese characters in the dictionary gradually.
