| TongJicm JiLan, compiled during the reign of Emperor Qianlong, is a major official work of general chronicle history. This work that had been compiling from the twenty-four year of Emperor Qianlong to thirty-three year of Emperor Qianlong, consists of one hundred and twenty volumes and is mainly divided into two parts:Part I:Record of the history from the times of Emperor Fu His to the end of the Ming Dynasty. Part Ⅱ:Emperor Qianlong’s comment, containing about1900articles, a total of more than200,000words. This work covers the evaluation of historical events, historiography thought, governing conceptions, military thought, external relations, and other aspects, focuses on the Orthodoxy, the Prince, Cosmic View, Calligraphy style, etc., and states Emperor Qianlong’s unique insights which reflects his distinct historiography thought and progressive conception of history. Emperor Qianlong oversaw the compilation of this work, ruled some of major events in this work, and remarked upon some of important historical figures and events, which had become the official historical standard.TongJicm JiLan, a great work, represents the official authoritative guiding ideology and has important historical values and position in the study on history. |
