Research On Li Shangyin’s Parallel Prose

Li Shangyin worked for many shogunates in his lifetime, and created a lot of parallel proses. His parallel prose is mostly the Official document, so it has a very distinctive pattern of features. This thesis is to explore the commonalities of Li Shangyin’s parallel prose through this regard, the cause of this pattern, and the characteristics in common. Li Shangyin’s long-term prose creation formed its own distinctive characteristics of parallel prose. From the artistic aspect, Li Shangyin’s developed the expression function of allusions and rhetoric in his parallel proses, and thought it of an important method to organize the layout and words. In addition, he grasped rhythm in greater detail, and placed more emphasis on internal conditions of antithesis, and use the’sheng dui’which is characterized chiefly by sound creatively.The present thesis is composed of five parts, including introduction, conclusion and three chapters. Introduction looks back upon and makes comments on research achievements on parallel prose written by Li Shangyin, coming up with the value of it in the same part. Chapter One focuses on Li’s obsession for classical style of writing and on his parallel prose writing, which is connected with his job. Besides, it analyses the influence coming from Linghu Chu, Li’s teacher. Chapter Two talk about achievements on Li’s parallel prose specifically, including allusion, flowery language, prosody and dual. The special artistic charm of Li’s parallel prose written by Li can be explained through this chapter. Chapter Three divided Li’s parallel prose into two parts:written for others and written for himself. It comes up with the model of Li’s parallel prose creation and analyses the special artistic charm of Li’s funeral oration. Conclusion makes a summary of Li’s parallel prose and points out its value and historical position briefly.
