The Study On Chen Gong-lu’s Historical Thoughts

Chen Gonglu (1900-1966), Jiangsu Dantu person, the famous historian, his juvenile has been well training writing after studying in the University of Nanking, he began to engage in academic research university, after the succession to Jinling University, Wuhan University, Northwestern University, Centre College, Nanjing University, many works of his life, relates to Chinese ancient history, foreign history, historical data, Chinese modern history, especially in the modern history research achievements is the maximum, the "modern history" China enjoy quite a reputation, one of the founders of modern China in history. However,as a historian, after the founding of the new China, due to the special historical environment,he suffered unfair treatment, the generation of the famous historian has long been unknown to the public, has not obtained the proper evaluation in academic circles, research on Chen Gonglu’s historical achievement has been relatively weak. As the main line,This paper is intended to Chen Gonglu’s life, academic activities and mainly represents, combining the characteristics of the development of modern history, as comprehensive and objective as possible, to explore its academic achievements, try to reveal the unique history and Chen, to locate his position in modern history.This paper is composed of introduction, four chapters and the conclusion. The introduction part elaborated the significance to select this topic, why to choose Chen Gonglu as the object of this study. Then, tease the historical evaluation of Chen Gonglu scholarship in brief. The first chapter is about of Chen Gonglu’s life and works. The main outline of Chen Gonglu, why and how to go on the road of history, and the experience of his life, including his academic experience and educational practice, to make a simple introduction. The second chapter studies in Chinese ancient history and foreign history take Chen Gonglu as the center, in China’s history, mainly introduces the types and contents of ancient history compiled by Chen Gonglu. In foreign history, centre on two books in brief about the "general history of India" and the "outline of Japanese history". The third chapter introduces Chen Gonglu’s historical science research, one is historical research achievements, in historical China, ancient science and modern science of historical data, the characteristics of the study on historical aspects. The fourth chapter, first is about Chen Gonglu’s "modern history" Chinese overall analysis, from reading his writing about the history, we can learn the characteristics of his book’s content; then discusses the historical origin and characteristics of Chen Gonglu. The conclusion part makes a conclusion and evalution of his study of history.
