The Shanghai District of the Investigation and Statistics Bureau was establishedby the Government Military Commission in Shanghai that was responsible for behindenemy lines to engage in intelligence activities. In1939, the Investigation andStatistics Bureau developed continually and had built much better foundations, forCooperate with the KMT protracted war of resistance against Japan at that time,politics is more important than military, intelligence is more important than strategypolicies, the role of the military administration is becoming more and moreimportant. When Mayor Chen Gongshu was in Shanghai in two years, hundreds ofthe traitors were sanctioned. They hit effectively the puppet army, had a significantcontribution to the Anti-Japanese War. But these anti-Japanese eliminate traitorsaction has not been sufficient research, even didnt make detailed clarify the specificsituation. The author through collecting, discover and organizing all kinds ofnewspapers and periodicals, the parties, the memories of the article, research worksout a series of the historiographers and Taipei military and historical data, hope to beable to restore the situation of the military district of Shanghai in1939anti-Japaneseeliminate traitors, more real close to history.The paper consists of introduction, text and epilogue three parts.The introduction part puts forward the significance of research, the analysis ofresearch status, introduces the structure and research method in this paper.There are four chapters in the text:The first chapter expounds that the forming and development of the militarybureau in Shanghai. It is divided into two parts, overview the development evolutionof the military bureau and the military bureau`s specific organization in Shanghai in1939.The second chapter describes that the military bureau`s the deployment of theAnti-Japanese War before Shanghai fell. Including that the overview about the fall ofShanghai, the principle of thinking and understanding about the importance of thewar of resistance and work in occupied region to the military bureau. The third chapter is the most important part that introduced in detail theInvestigation and Statistics Bureau`s eliminating traitors activities in the occupiedShanghai. It divided into four sections that the eliminating traitors activities threemonths ago, the eliminating traitors’ activities are affected caused by Japanese gotinto the municipal council, the eliminating traitors activities almost ground to a haltin July and August two months, and the eliminating traitors activities active again.The last chapter expounds that the Anti-Japanese activities and analysis of thecharacteristics to the Investigation and Statistics Bureau in Shanghai area in1939.The conclusion is a generalization of summary of the full text. This part pointsthat the significance of the anti-Japanese in the enemy occupied region of Shanghaito the Investigation and Statistics Bureau, and hope this can be more in depth,detailed and comprehensive understanding about the Anti-Japanese War history inChina.
