At present, a universal phenomenon among the education in normal university in China is that music education major usually applies the pattern of Conservatory of Music, which leads to the positioning deviation and other chain reaction, such as, the unreasonable course structure, which causes the great gap between the teaching objectives and the knowledge structures, technical capabilities and self-localization of the students. Even more serious, students might not be psychologically prepared to the future career.This paper sets East China Normal University, College of Arts Music Education as an example, to study its development process, to review its history and reform tentative plan. Paper compares East China Normal University with the Music Education of Shanghai Normal University and Shanghai Conservatory of Music, attempts to find differences and similarities, to discover the problems and confusions. Discuss the major defects and potential advantages of the music education of normal university in China. This paper aims to further promote the music education of normal university nowadays, which would have positive effects on the development of music education of normal university in our country.
