"Stranger" is proposed by Simmel Georg who is a sociologist, and then expanded by otherssociologists from different angles.Director Ang Lee who comes Taiwan has repeatedly stressed his"stranger" status (mainlanders in Taiwan, mainland compatriots, the Chinese-American). This happened to"stranger" theory in sociological study. Expressed in three respects:Subculture title,Homeless in"modernnation-state",,Cross-border nature.In fact, the "stranger" status plays a central role in Ang Lee’s film. On the one hand "repression"become his theme, this is inevitable anxiety for the "stranger" in the modern nation-state; On the otherhand,His freedom Perspective comes from "stranger" change Ang from passive to active.In his films he isalways trying to implement "positive Utopia" Strategy:build the image of inclusive "bridge" betweenEast-West, history and gender. In this era of globalization, its sociological significance is enormous, this iswhere the real purpose and value of this thesis.So in this paper, I will discuss the "bridge" quality between East and West, history and gender.Nomatter the desire of merge East and West in "Life of Pi",or the construction of collective memory in "Lust,Caution", and the inter textual narrative about yin and yang in his gender express, they are all image tobuild a " inclusive bridge ", it has utopia quality.This article will make comprehensive use of film theory, sociology of "strangers" theory, relevantknowledge of psychologists Rong Ge and La kang, narrative and gender performances etc. We will analysisthe "stranger" texture qualities in Ang Lee’s film and provide a deeper interpretation of the movie of AngLee, and then draw out the specific image of the" bridge dream "in the movie of Ang Lee.
