Consecutive interpreting can be widely used in many situations such as speeches, meetings and banquets. However, the long and different sentences in the consecutiveinterpreting process have always been bothering the interpreters. This paper is anEnglish to Chinese simulating consecutive interpreting report which is based on thespeech of Malcolm Fraser in Griffith University. It focuses on analyzing andresearching the resolutions of long and difficult sentences.Fuzziness is a characteristic of language. The appearance of fuzzy linguistic makesthe interpretation of long and difficult sentences become more difficult. However, fuzzy linguistic cannot be replaced, so we must pay attention to it. This paper firstintroduces the concept of the fuzzy linguistics. Based on the related theories, this papercomes up with the appropriate methods to deal with the long and difficult sentences. Inconsective interpreting process, the following methods are often used to solve the longand difficult sentences problems: syntactic linearty, inversion, division, amplification, omission, conversion of sentence components. However, in the real situation, one singlemethod doesn’t work for long and difficult sentences. Therefore, this paper focuses onthe use of synthetical method to interpret the long and difficult sentences. This reportmainly includes four parts: interpretation task description, the process of the task, caseanalysis and conclusion. The first part task description, it briefly introduces the speechof Malcolm Fraser as the material for case study. The second part task process includespreparation before interpretation and interpretation process. The third part case analysis, this chapter tries to find out the best way to combine those interpreting methods to makethe target language more smoothly. The conclusion part includes the importance ofpreparation before interpreting and the analysis of difficult points during the interpretingprocess.Through this practice, I have gained a better understanding of the importance of preparation before interpreting and improved my ability of interpreting the long anddifficlut sentences. During the interperting process, interpreters should not just focus onone strategy, but should be more creative and use more strategies to solve the long anddifficult sentence problems. Meanwhile, the conclusion of this report is expected toprovide reference to the study of strategies for long and difficult sentences interpretingin consective interpreting.
