A Practical Study Of Interpreting Strategies Of Long Sentences In E-C Consecutive Interpreting

Consecutive interpreting has been mainly used in the conference interpreting, but with the rapid development of the economic globalization, consecutive interpreting has began to be used in the enterprise promotion interpretation, which could promote the exchange and bridge the culture gap between the company and customers effectively. The interpreter was entrusted by Lego Group to do the consecutive interpreting for Lego promotion. The promotion mainly introduces the company development and product features, whose language is with the combination of short sentences and long sentences, and terminologies. The long sentences are characterized by many modifiers, parallel components, and levels of content.The thesis focuses on the interpretation of long sentences, analyzes the cause of the main difficulties in interpreting, and studies the interpreting strategies of long sentences in consecutive interpreting, including the sequence method, the reverse method, the division method and other methods. In addition, it further discusses the strategies in the practice of Lego promotion and supports that the interpretive theory with the core of “de-verbalization” could be used as the theoretical foundation. Finally, it summarizes the interpretation practice, and provides a reference for the further study and practice in the interpreting of long sentences.
