In our daily life, deception is a very common practice. People often lies for various reasons, out of good will or bad will, such as for one’s own sake or the interests of others. Sometimes, the influence of lying is not so big in our life, but when if it occurs in diplomacy, politics and business, it means a lot. Since Piaget proposed the concept of deception, a lot of research has been committed to study it. Most of the existing researches concentrate on the occurrence and development of deception, the cognitive development of deception or the neural mechanisms of deception. It is not difficult for us to find out that all of the research was carried out in a single environment. To data, there is no research study deception in different environments, to verify the influence of environment on deception. The BWT suggests that signs of disorder like broken windows, litter, and graffiti induce other types of disorder and petty crime. The disorder of the environment send out the signal that no one cares, thus causing the behavior to spread. Some research indicate that clean or dirty environment will affect people’s tolerance to unethical behavior, then people will make more or less strict moral judgment, and show more tolerance to unethical behavior or more resistance to unethical behavior. Deception and the moral behavior is connected. In the first study, subjects were asked to predict the outcomes of random computerized coin-flips and were financially rewarded for accuracy and punished for inaccuracy. In the No Opportunity condition, subjects recorded their predictions in advance, denying them the opportunity to cheat by lying about their accuracy. In the Opportunity condition, subjects made their predictions privately and were rewarded based on their self-reported accuracy, affording them the opportunity to cheat. The first study is a behavioural experiment. The second study used functional near-infrared spectroscopy to record the cortical activation during the coin-flips task. The current research has achieved some conclusions:(1) Compared to the No Opportunity condition, higher accuracy was found in the Opportunity condition.(2) Compared to the dirty-lab environment, higher accuracy was found in the clean-lab environment.(3) In the Opportunity condition, when compared to the dirty-lab environment, higher accuracy was found in the clean-lab environment.(4) Compared to the No Opportunity condition, higher activation was found in the Opportunity condition. (5) Compared to the clean-lab environment, in the dirty-lab environment, with the increase of lying, the activation of channel8reduce.
