The drama theme of Gu JianChen involving lower-middle-class people, the liberation of women, the Anti-Japanese War and the historical figures, etc., one of the most influential works is the people’s Theatre, the second is the drama about the liberation of women. The two theme of Gu Jianchen embodies, drama as a comprehensive art is different from fiction, poetry and other literary style, its value is also reflected in the theatrics.In Gu Jianchen’s plays, no matter is the shape of two distinct characters, such as the ideal characters and realistic characters, or the two styles to be totally different design of the story, such as the alternate of tension and relaxation and intensified plot, they all reflect good theater effect and strong theatre. This is the result of Gu Jianchen who deliberately to pursue the pure effect. This paper mainly from the four aspects: the writing about the bottom, plot advancement, characterization and artistic skills to expound the theatre is shown in Gu Jianchen’s drama. In addition, for the shortcomings of Gu Jianchen’s plays were also discussed.This paper is divided into five chapters:The Gu Jianchen’s pursuit of the theater is discussed in chapter one from the drama theme. The theme mode of Gu Jianchen’s drama mainly includes people’s Theatre theme mode and the liberation of women theme mode. About the people’s Theatre, this article will discuss the theatrical mainly from three people’s Theatre:"cold food","outside the death line"," people’s trading"; for the liberation of women theme mode, This essay will analyze and discuss from two kinds of drama: the pull type of nora’s "left" model and the praise of women of wisdom and tenacity.Inoculation on the theatricality from the advancement of dramatic plot will be analysis in the second chapter. In Gu Jianchen’s dramatic plot showed two directions, one is using the alternate of tension and relaxation strategies to make the story have many twists and turns, ups and downs; The second is to use intensified ways to make a step toward tense plot, when conflict of drama reached the highest tide, the drama is halted. The former makes the audience feel the undulating rhythm beauty in constantly expection and meet, the latter makes the audience feel the pleasant sensation of highly intense scenario. Both of two plot designs show the author’s ability to control the theatre.The third chapter discusses the formation of theatricality from characterization. The ideal person in Gu Jianchen’s portrayed in the play is endowed with the good character "truth, goodness, beauty" and great personality, they use their positive outlook on life, values and moral energy to touch audience, enhance theatricality tension; Gu Jianchen through the realistic approach to make the character of realistic characters complicated and authentic, it not only demonstrate individuality, but also grasp the audience firmly through close to the audience aesthetic psychological superiority, strengthen the theater effect.The fourth chapter discusses the creation of theatricality in artistic skill from Gu Jianchen. This paper mainly from four aspects:suspense, coincidence, beside the related method and the ratio method, to analysis artistic skill’s effect in creating and optimizing theatricality.The fifth chapter analyzes the shortcomings in Gu Jianchen’s drama. Due to the limitations of the times, in Gu Jianchen’s drama, some work is to carry out publicity and education through drama, there are suspicion artificially for concept to harm play; some of his works have megaphone of the age’s suspicion; some work’s dialogue is not inconformity with the identity of characters or have slogan’s suspicion. These deficiencies are really hard to avoid in the special time of the Anti-Japanese war.Make a comprehensive survey for Gu Jianchen’s drama, despite some shortcomings, but in the expansion of drama field potential, enhance theater tension, influence and even dominate the audience’s psychological and emotional, strengthening drama effect, Gu Jianchen still shows his strong awareness in pursuit of theatricality and theatrics.
