Nowadays with the rapid development of computer technology in our country, and constantlyupdating the concept of education, Multimedia Computer Assisted Language Learning has become a veryimportant teaching mode."In2007, Requirements of University English Teaching on the UniversityEnglish Curriculum issued by the department of Higher Education, the Ministry of Education clearlystipulated:“Universities should make full use of modern information technology,and adopt teaching modethat based on the computer and the Traditional Lecture in the class, in order to improve solely teachingmode.” At present, many scholars in China have done some researches on MCALL, but lack of study forHigher Vocational Colleges, many researches are according to undergraduate universities or secondaryschools.This essay is mainly to make a survey for the application of Multimedia Assisted languagelearning in vocational colleges in Zhengzhou. The questionnaires are issued to find out the current situationin the application of MCALL there, the difficulties in the application of MCALL, thus to analyze theircauses, and to put forward the possible ways to improve the situation.This paper is divided into six parts, as the follows:The first chapter states the background and necessity to perform English education reform inhigher vocational technology colleges. Secondly, it defines several concepts involves in this article. Andthen, the author explains the main purposes, significance, content and method of this article. At last, thearticle elaborates four learning theory of MCALL.In the chapter two, this paper hackles and summarizes the literature of MCALL both at home andabroad. In order to explain the necessity of this research, I reviewed the present research briefly.In the chapter three, the article adopts investigation by questionnaire and inquires method toresearch the present situation of MCALL to English teaching in four higher vocational colleges inZhengzhou area. At last,I count and analyse the survey results.In the chapter four, according to the analysis of the investigation,the paper sums up the mainproblems existing in MCALL to English teaching in higher vocational colleges in Zhengzhou area. Firstly, the students’ autonomous learning ability is poor, and the quality of information should be improved.Secondly, the information literacy and information technology capability of teacher is on the low side.Thirdly, the teaching mode and method are not properly. Fourthly, School leaders do not pay enoughattention, software and hardware of teaching can not keep up with teaching requirements. At the same time,the paper explores the main factors causing these problems.In the chapter five, based on the above research, the author puts forward five points to improvethe MCALL to English teaching in higher vocational colleges in Zhengzhou area. Firstly, teacher shouldstrengthen the cultivation of students’ information quality and self-study ability. Secondly, the teacher’sinformation technology ability should be strengthened. Thirdly, teacher should improve the teaching modeand method. Fourthly, the construction of software and hardware should be pay attention, and the schoolshould create a good teaching environment. Fifthly, the modern educational technology consciousness ofschool leader should be enhanced.In the chapter six, the author summarized the research and put forward the deficiencies of thispaper. At last the author prospects the future of MCALL to English teaching.
