Values And Personality Characteristic Of Higher Vocational College Students

Objiective:To study the values,personality characteristic and the relation between them of higher vocational college students.Methods:The Personal Value Survey and Evaluation made by Scott,W.A.(1965) and 16PF(1988),which was recised by Dai zhong heng and Zhu pei li in Hua Dong Normal University were used in 541 students in 6 higher vocational colleges.Results:The values of higher Vocational College Students are social skill,loyalty,body development,position, innovation,academic achievement,intellectualism, self-control,independence,kindness,honesty.There is significant difference in kindness,honesty,independence, academic achievement,innovation between gender and in kindness between the only-child and non-only-child,in social skill between liberal arts and Science Students,in academic achievement and honsty between residence.Higher vocational college students has higher scores in association,exicitability,anciety,tension than national normal,but lower in brightness,emotional stability,strength, suspect,experiment,independness.Men students are superior to women students in emotional stability,strength, independence,emotion and sedateness,cowardice and decisiveness,mental and health,specialty achievement,but inferior in association,brightmess,sensitivity,fancy, circumspect and farseeing,tension,adoptation and anxiety. Liberal arts students are superior to science students in association,brightness,excitability,sensitivity,fancy, circumspect and farseeing,anxiety,introversion and extroversion,but inferior in emotional stability, independence,emotion and sedateness,cowardice and decisiveness,specialty achievement.Rural students are superior to students from city and country in emotional stability,while inferior in suspect.Only-child students are superior in suspect,circumspect and farseeing,tension, adoptation and anxiety,but inferior in mental health.There is significant difference among three grades in venture, suspect,anxiety,adoptation and anxiety,mental health.Three is significant difference in sensitivity,circumspect and farseeing of their mother' vocation and in sensitivity, suspect,tension,emotion and sedateness of their father' vocation;Intellectualism of higher vocational college students has significant positive correlation with emotional stability, perseverance,automatic rhythmicity,emotion and sedateness, mental health,specialty achievement.Kindness has significant positive correlation with emotional stability,perseverance, venture,automatic rhythmicity,emotion and sedateness,mental health,specialty achievement,while significant negative correlation with suspect,anciety,adoptation and anxiety, introversion and extroversion.Social skill has significant positive correlation with association,emotional stability, exicitability,perseverance,automatic rhythmicity, introversion and extroversion,mental health,specialty achievement,but significant negative correlation with anciety, tension,adoptation and anxiety.Loyalty has significant positive correlation with association,emotional stability, excitability,perseverance,venture,experiment,automatic rhythmicity,introversion and extroversion,mental health, while significant negative correlation with adoptation and anxiety.Academic achievement has significant positive correlation with brightness,perseverance,experiment, automatic rhythmicity,mental health,specialty achievement, while significant negative correlation with anciety.Body development has significant positive correlation with emotional stability,perseverance,experiment,automatic rhythmicity,cowardice and decisiveness,mental health, specialty achievement,developing ability in the environment, but significant negative correlation with tension,anciety, adoptation and anxiety.Position has significant positive correlation with emotional stability,excitability, experiment,introversion and extroversion,mental health, specialty achievement,while significant negative correlation with anciety,adoptation and anxiety.Self-control has significant positive correlation with emotional stability, perseverance,automatic rhythmicity,mental health,specialty achievement,but significant negative correlation with adoptation and anxiety.Innovation has significant positive correlation with perseverance,experiment,automatic rhythmicity,cowardice and decisiveness,mental health specialty achievement,but significant negative correlation with anciety.There is significant positive correlation between independence and prudence.Conclusion:There is significant difference between gender, residence,only-child and non-only-child on values, significant difference between gender,subject,only-child and non-only-child,residence,grade on personality characteristic. There is significant correlation between values and personality characteristic.Higher vocational college students' personality characteristic affects their values.
