The Research On The Promotion Of Dragon Dance Performance In Universities And Colleges

The Dragon Dance, with a history of more than2,000years, is one of the mostextraordinary conventional sporting events in China. However, with a drastic growingof the society and prosperity of national cultural life, the dragon dance fades its dueacknowledgement and spreading as a brilliant sporting activity, which raises a veryimportant issue worth worrying for the inheritance and development of our nationalculture.Universities are vital platforms of the cultural transmission and pose as thecultural bases of a nation or a race. They contribute a lot for the inheritance anddevelopment of a great national culture. The Dragon dance is a Chinese-only sportingform, therefore the development of it in universities plays a unshakeable role in thecontinuation of our national culture. This article centers on the promotion of thedragon dance in universities, and discusses the following questions.First, it discusses the origin of the dragon culture and the living space of theDragon Dance. From a national scale, the folk dragon dance is severely shocked bymodern culture and is facing a crisis of gradual shrinking; as for the athletic part, thedragon dance started pretty late as a modern sporting activity, in the universities, thedragon dance activity enjoys a drastic development in recently years, but it doesn’town a great degree of dissemination and lacks expertise.Second, it discusses the factors of the development of the dragon dance inuniversities. The situation is not so optimistic due to the lack of emphasis, coursearrangement, scientific research, faculty and expenditure. These all curb thedevelopment of the dragon dance in universities.Third, it discusses the importance and ways of promotion of the dragon dance inuniversities. The dragon dance cannot fully enjoy a development without the help ofuniversities, culturally and modernly. The development of the dragon dance canbenefit the cultural build-up in universities.Fourth, Universities should positively act to promote the dragon dance activity inorder to inherit and promote our conventional culture and also to contribute to displaythe charm of our conventional culture.To sum up, the article gives ways to promote the dragon dance in universities: first,to enhance the emphasis of the promotion of the activity; second, to design thecourses in the universities more properly, to enhance the support of its scientificresearch and the development of the faculty, to enhance the expenditure of the activity;in order to help develop and inherit the dragon dance and our national conventionalculture.
