Chinese opera has a long history of evolution over a long period of evolution, this unique traditionalfolk art formed into a large number of traditional cultural elements, have been inextricably linked withpeople’s life. Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties are the three major stages of drama development in thehistory. The number of witchcraft contained within those drama texts in this period is particularlynumerous. Various types of folk customs and witchcraft way of thinking exist in the content. Witchcraftcustoms emerged from hominids is a series of activities attempting to interpret some of the phenomena ofhuman daily life, predict and control human future with supernatural powers. Witchcraft, as an importantpart of Chinese traditional culture, reflects the rich cultural connotations, showing the social and culturalpsychology, the concept of faith, ethics, and many other aspects of the development of the concept ofmomentum. It’s a part of folk beliefs. Most previous researches on witchcraft and drama focused on thesubject of witchcraft originated from drama. Witchcraft has a close relationship with the opera, buthistorical records of local history in the practice of witchcraft specific activities are relatively scarce, thissituation researched on the formation of a dilemma. Analyzing and organizing the witchcraft activitiesappears in the text not only can observe its characteristics during this period, dissect the social culturemore deeply, and also can discuss this matter from the perspective of public emotion and drama creation.Combing those large amounts of witchcraft customs appears in the text, analyzing some typical customfeatures of it, and digging its cultural function is an effective and innovative research methods., on the otherhand is a more in-depth way on the subject, can also provide some supplementary for the ancient witchcraftcustoms study.
