Dialect plays a vital role in retaining the regional cultural characteristics, so its protection and communication is of particular importance. However, due to the impact of all factors, the English translation of the dialectal expressions in literary works is mainly limited to the word-for-word translation and the literal translation, both of which, yet, have some disadvantages:the literal translation fails to communicate the cultural atmosphere of the original works; the word-for-word translation can communicate the cultural atmosphere to some extent, but distorts the style features of the original works, puzzling readers for better understanding. In the English versions of many literary works, usually the dialects are literally translated in the version, yet they lack the cultural meaning. In the English version of Red Sorghum, many Goami dialectal expressions in the original works are omitted or improperly translated, which leads to the inaccurate communication of the emotions and dispositions and even the features of the local culture. Though the dialect application and cultural comparison are involved in the research of Red Sorghum, there are few researches involving the combination of the dialect English translation with the cultural information communication. Therefore, it is quite necessary to conduct the profound study of the English translation of the dialectal expressions in the novel based on Snell-Hornby’s "Translation Studies-An Integrated Approach", so this author proposes the several suggestions for the dialect translation.According to the analysis steps of "An Integrated Approach", the translator should conduct the translation analysis of the linguistic coherence in the source language, the linguistic coherence of the translated text and the inter-textual coherence between the target version and the source version. It is necessary to conduct the linguistic and cultural research based on all information from the source language to emphasize the achievement of the dialect literary functions and the use of the "Scene-Framework" method. This paper analyses the source language version and the target language version and their relations from the perspective of two dimensions, respectively Linguistics and Culture to discuss the impact of the dialect translation of Red Sorghum on the cultural communication, thus providing the proper strategies for the dialect translation of the novel.
