Jingju developed a new role system that contains Sheng, Dan,Jing, Chou, based on the roles of Kunqu Opera and Anhui Opera,Bangzi. Given that, these new Jingju types of roles kept ondeveloping. Jing, a Xiqu role, gradually formed a new role system ofTongchui hualian, Jiazi hualian, Wu hualian, and has beenconsidered as a pattern since then. Jing role actors started to changethe roles they play. Initially, they were good at singing, chanting, acting and fighting, and could also perform Bangzi, Kunqu Operaand Pihuang etc. As Jing roles were divided, Jing role actors startedto perform particularly one kind of role during Guangxu andXuantong period. Due to influences like individual artistic talent, variation of troupe system, art education, it was increasinglycommon for performers to play only one kind of role. Since People’s Republic of China, Qiu school and Yuan school(two jingju artschools), have narrowed Jing role types. And this kind of change ledto the variation of Jing roles’standard and styles.
