Reseach On The Modest Words In The Ming Dynasty Letters Of Shanghai Library

China is famous in culture of etiquette, the use of the modest words is animportant manifestation. Ming Dynasty Letters of Shanghai Library,the bookpublished in2002, contains586letters.This book has eight volumes and deals with341authors. Currently,there is no specific study the modest words of this book inacademic achievement.We found that there are186modest words in this book.We primarily through themethods of statistical argument with examples and diachronic and synchronnic formodest words to sort, summarize, classification and interpretation training, in order tobroaden horizons and enrich researches on lexicology, lexicography and inheritanceof China etiquette cultural. The research includes explanation, classification,characteristics, complement four chapters. The first chapter,we try to create a table toshow every modest words firstly.Secondly,we explain186modest word detailed inorder to understand the means of it by people and in order to lay the foundation forfurther study. The second chapter, we base on the number of syllables, the allegedobject,the using frequency to research the classification of the modest words,for raisethe awareness of modest words from different angles. The third chapter,we analysisthe characteristic of the modest words,on the one hand combine academic researchresults from a macro perspective analysis the characteristic of the modest words’sdirectivity,nationality,decade,relativity,the other hand, according to our research,focusing on the analysis the characteristic of modest words about structure, semanticfield, users,in order to further increase the overall of modest words and the researchobjectives in the understanding.The forth chapter about complement between themodest words and Politeness Dictionary.We found that there are121modest wordscan be complement with it, modest words of which103can be included tocomplement the book,14modest words to the book entries can be exemplifiedcomplement,4modest words in the book entry be interpretation complement.
