There are categories of operas in our country, but in recent years thephenomenon of the different kinds of local operas’ assimilation is moreand more serious, and the drama’s uniqueness is increasingly blurred.Forthis phenomenon, I hereby submit the the concept of "Opera’sTemperament" and study systematically, hoping to contribute to theopera’s personality、literature and art’s diversity. In order to discussspecifically, I selected Yuyao’s local opera--Yao Opera as a case to study.Opera’s Temperament is the fundamental features that one operadistinguishes another as a whole, which has characteristics of uniqueness, internality, integrity and relative stability. The factors affected include:regional culture and collective personality, opera’s origin and history, opera’s representative plays, representative persons, dialects andmusic.Based on these factors, I summarize three aspects of Yao Opera’stemperament:Country, Modern and Comic.Among them, Country meansthat Yao Opera experts in peasantry themes; Modern means it is good atmodern drama; and Comic refers that Yao Opera is full of humor. The unique of Opera’s Temperament highlights in comparison.Tothis end, I select Shanghai Opera, Henan Opera and Ningbo Opera to separately compare with Yao Opera’s three kinds oftemperament--modern, country and comic, highlighting the differentoperas’ irreplaceable unique temperament. Shanghai opera’s modernplace more weight on urbanization, while Yao Opera emphasis onpeasantry; Henan Opera and Yao Opera are similar in peasantry, but oneappears rough, one delicate;Yao Opera and Ningbo Opera both belong toNingbo, but one appears Tragedy, rather the other comic,Each has a uniquemerit. Finally, I analyze the stability and micro variety of Opera’sTemperament, and give my personal recommendations on how tomaintain stability in the creation and expansion of its temperament takingthe example of Yao Opera.
