The translator’s subjectivity was got increasingly attention with the "culture turn" in western translation studies since1970s. The translator’s subject status was established as the translator was tending towards the center of cultural translation studies from the edge of the culture studies. At present, the studies on translator’s subjectivity are mainly focused on analyzing the macro theory. In order to deepen the understanding of the translator’s subjectivity, the thesis will specifically analyze and explore it from micro case study.Chinese classical poetry is a splendid culture treasure in our nation. Tang-poems is the essence of Chinese classical poetry. It has been circulated widely for thousands of years. The translation of Tang-poems can spread Chinese culture effectively. The westerners can know more about Chinese classical culture. Thus, the study translations of Tang-poems get more and more translators and scholars’attention both at home and abroad. Hence different translation versions emerged. The study on English translation of Tang-poems has a long history. However, these studies mostly analyze English translation of Tang-poems form cultural or traditional linguistic perspectives. Different from the previous studies which focused on faithfulness and equivalence in the process of translation, the thesis aims at explore the reasons for why different translation versions exist in Tang-poem translation from the perspective of translator’s subjectivity. The thesis firstly summarized the generation and development of the translator’s subjectivity, and then discussed its important role in translation. The thesis selected Xu Yuanchong and Pound’s translated works as research objects. As we all know, Xu Yuanchong and Pound were the notable figures of poetry translation in different periods and countries. Though had different understandings of poetry translation and took different translating strategies, they both made prospective success in their own time. That is to say, they show different subjectivities when translate the Tang-poems. Therefore, in virtue of the translator’s subjectivity theory, the thesis took comparative analysis between Xu and Pound on how to play the translator’s subjectivity and how were they influenced by the subjectivity in the process of poem translation.By comparative analysis, the thesis has come to the conclusion that different translators would produce different translated versions under different linguistic, time and cultural environment; and we should take a more tolerant attitude towards these different versions. Besides, the author of the thesis thinks that it could be a successful version as long as the translator produced expectant results for their intended readers through their translated works.
