Wang Wei And Garden

Tang (A.D.618-907) is one of the longest unified dynasty in Chinese feudalsociety and the most powerful dynasty. As a well-known poet of the Tang Dynasty,Wang wei had fruitful achievements in books, paintings, music, gardening and otheraspects. Many people recited his poetry, imitated his paintings, song his music, andvisited his gardens, read his story. Wang wei, is a “comprehensive typical”, anindependent paradigm, established the “Authentic tang sound”. designed and built thefamous literati garden–Wangchuan Garden and developed the Wang chuan modewhich was a combination of natural and cultural landscape. His efforts was an attemptwhich made the Garden Landscape transformed from natural landscape to literatilandscape. Meanwhile his efforts had a huge influence on the later literati landscape.At present, most of domestic and foreign researchers analyze the ideas and worksof Wang Wei from the literary point of view obtained some achievements. However,these researches were lack of analyzing Wang wei from the gardening point of view,and also were lack of studying on the garden view of Wang wei as a professionalgarden design worker. In this paper the view of literati for garden in Tang Dynastywill be analysed from Wang wei’s life experience, change of thinking, make friendsplace, personal preferences and so on. The methods will also be analyzedsystematically from the three views of landscape poetry, painting, landscape gardenfrom his poetry, paintings, articles, landscape gardeners. Final the view of gardeningand landscape esthetic sense of the author will be analyzed by combining the poet’sliving social background and life experiences.By three-dimensional analysis of Wang Wei as a horticulturist, the developmentmodel and development status of Chinese gardens were present. The esthetic senseand tendentiousness of Chinese classical garden building were clarified. The theory ofChinese garden was enriched. These will play an important role in the development ofChinese classical garden and has a significance for the development of the modernlandscape.
