Dapu Hakka dialect is much less popular than other languages in MalaysianChinese community, which is currently in danger of becoming extinct. The thesisstudies about Dapu Hakka dialect based on field investigation in Kuala LumpurMalaysia.Firstly, the thesis introduces the statues of Malaysian Chinese community and thepresent situation of Dapu Hakka dialect in Kuala Lumpur, and detailedly analyzesinitials, finals and tones of Hakka dialect phonetic system in Kuala Lumpur Malaysiaby comparing with the difference of Hakka dialect phonetic system betweenGanton Meizhou area and Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. Secondly, focused on thearchaisms, words similar to native dialect, words affected by Chinese, taboo words,characteristic local words and borrowed words, the thesis makes a detailed analysisof Dapu Hakka dialect in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia in order to explore the specialty ofDapu Hakka dialect in the local place. Finally, the cross-cultural comparison of thedifferece of vocabulary of Dapu Hakka dialect from Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, CantonMeizhou Area and Taiwan Dongshi Area is discussed. Under theimpact of multiple factors including virious context, society’sattitude towards language and language selection between Kuala Lumpur Malaysiaand Taiwan, Dapu Hakka dialect display a wholly different character by comprison.In a word, the vocabulary of Hakka dialect has taken on convergence betweenKuala Lumpur and Canton Meizhou Area with Taiwan. Language contact is the maincause leading to the regional differences of vocabulary.
