Cloudy decorative pattern is the most valuable pattern with historic trendcharacteristics among Chinese traditional art patterns, and it is a symbol of theChinese art history during five thousand years. So it is necessary to investigate themodeling and meaning of Cloudy decorative pattern in a step further. According tothe study of cloudy decorative pattern, we will find the development of the ancientartistic style in different periods. Cloudy patterns can vary at different forms, such assimple or complex, single or repeat, composition, or combined with other patterns.In this paper, we aim to analyze and compare the time characteristics on differentdynasties of the Cloudy decorative patterns. FaHai Temple murals is a prominentrepresentative to illustrate Cloudy decorative decorated which has elegant stylingand features temples manifestations. With the development of human society and theraising of people’s consciousness, cloudy patterns are changing. This article is divided into four sections to explain the origin and give anoverview on the development of Cloudy decorative, to explore the aesthetic featuresand designs of FaHai Temple murals, to design the application and research modernof Cloudy decorative. by the chapters above, we can draw a conclusion that Chinesetraditional patterns have strong vitality and the ancient people bring a naturalphenomenon which grows into a beautiful design art style. The cloudy decorativepatterns of FaHai Temple murals, along with its modeling features, aesthetic valueand impact, is investigated in detail. Finally we need further study to pay muchattention on the combination of Chinese traditional Cloudy decorative design withmodern design and the blend of the Chinese art culture together with the world,which is the responsibility of us as designers.
