| As a practice report on Chinese to English picture news translation, this reportchooses the picture news that report outstanding characters of Tianjin University(TU)in Tianjin University News Network as the analytic target to discuss differentproblems of news translation and picture captions translation as well as possiblecoping strategies and solutions.This reportdescribes three parts of Chapter Two, which includes the preparationbefore translation, translation period and proofreading after translation. The timeschedule is illustrated in this chapter.In the chapter of case analysis, this report selects some typical case to discuss thetranslation of picture captions; adaptation strategy is adopted in Chinese newstranslation through cases of news title, lead and body; finally error analysis is made.In the end, it draws conclusions as the following points: the translation of picturecaptions should conform to the information of pictures; translators should payattention to the characteristics of English news and grasp the essence so that theversion can be more idiomatic and fluent, especially the news title and lead translationwhich should both thoroughly express the news facts and concisely convey themeaning of the original text; translators should reflect the meaning of the original textas possible as they can. |
