Study Of Shang Dynasty Jade Sculpture Art

Jade sculpture is an art that we give property of visual and tactile sense to jade during the process of machining jade to jade article, through variety sculpture methods. And the methods include changing structure and carving pattern. Then make jade become practical and aesthetic jade article. This thesis researches on the jade sculpture art of Shang dynasty by the research method of combing archaeology and document, according to the archaeological discoveries of jade materials of Shang dynasty. The contents include composition art, sculpture pattern, development and evolution and so on. Meanwhile, deeply analyze on the cultural connotation and symbolic significance which are contained into the jade sculpture art of Shang dynasty. The thesis includes 5 parts: Introduction.In the introduction part, it defines some related concepts of Shang dynasty, jade article, sculpture art and so on, sorts out the history and present situation of this topic research, states the research purpose, significance and means of this thesis. What’s more, sort out the unearthed jade articles from the representative ruins of the early and late period of Shang dynasty.In the chapter two, it analyzes on the the composition art of the jade articles of Shang dynasty. The contents refer to composition and modeling method,composition thought, composition service for social life and other aspects. It is thought that the jade sculpture of Shang dynasty could grasp the relationship between topic contents and composition relationship, perfectly express the main idea through the proper topic content and composition method.In chapter three, it researches on the sculpture pattern of Shang dynasty. The contents refer to types, carving methods, symbols and other parts of the jade pattern.It is thought that the jade pattern fully embodies the development level of sculpture art in Shang Dynasty. Different patterns reflect different service objects, so we can know the social life in Shang dynasty through the patterns.In chapter four, it discusses about the evolution of sculpture art in Shangdynasty. The contents include the change of structure pattern, the evolution of sculpture method. It is thought that the whole development process tends to be complex from simple, dynamic from static, lively from dull.In the conclusion part, it summarizes the main points of this whole thesis.
