A Study Of Narrative Art In Haruki Murakami’s 1Q84

Haruki Murakami is a famous writer in contemporary Japan, his novels with the youth of loneliness and sadness is unique to the popular.1Q84 is following the Kafka on the Shore after seven years of dormancy by Haruki,the novel’s narrative is broad, it is divided into three parts, the novle is published 2009 but until 2011 are all listed publishing,therefore on the novel research started relatively late, so there still have great research space.From previous research, most of studies are about showing concept of good and evil, violent elements, the characters in the novel and the novel’s theme,rarely from the narrative techniques in the research achievements of narrative art,so this thesis with the narrative theory as the basis, to research applied the narrative techniques by Haruki Murakami in 1Q84, and the resulting in these narrative techniques of narrative art.Finally, analysis value of narrative art in novle,hope can enrich the research on Haruki Murakami and 1Q84’s narrative art.The whole thesis can be divided into five parts, including introduction, main body of three chapters and the conclusion.Chapter one is the introduction part.Firstly, introduce Haruki Murakami and his1Q84, in order to understand the writer and the novle in the whole, so that can easily to begin my discussion. Then, introduce the research status of the novel at home and abroad,.Finally,based on the research status,to research significance and the research method of this thesis.Chapter two is the studies about the narrative subject of 1Q84.About the narrator,Murakami try to concealment the narrator in the novel, the narrator without intervention and commentary, only to relate objectively.Murakami let the narrative focus switch in particula rparagraph.The narrative mode, the multiple points of view is Haruki uses characters about more than common and let the same scene in different characters to get multi angle recurring narrative mode. Finally, analysis aesthetic function of these narrative strategis.Chapter three is to analysis the narrative image of 1Q84. Narrative image concept of this chapter is from Yang Yi in Chinese narrative, combined with the novel text then to analysis of symbolic meaning behind nature image and social image in the 1Q84,inthe last study, research the the narrative function of narrative image.Chapter four is to analysis the embedded narrative structure of 1Q84.Firstly analysis the three books in 1Q84-- air chrysalis, Cat City and the Tian Wu’s novel with the 1Q84’s story layer compounds three different types of nested form, and then study this nested form’s the narrative effect in-depth.The conclusion part of this thesis is on the overall review on the basis of1Q84,then further to describe the significance produced by narrative art in 1Q84, do a summary to the whole thesis.
