"River Novel Trilogy" Discourse Markers Research

Discourse Markers is a seemingly useless language elements, It has no substantive semantic. But for the speaker, it has positive impact on expressing emotion and attitude and clearing context. With the rise of conversation analysis, the research of Discourse Markers goes further on linguistics, and develop from the pragmatics, cognitive linguistics and other direction. In this paper, we use li jieren’s "river novel trilogy" as corpus, analysis the novel’s Discourse Markers in detail. the "river novel trilogy" includes 《sishuiweilan》《baofengyuqian》《dabo》. Combining literature and linguistics’s Discourse Markers, to enrich research contents of Discourse Markers, to promote the local flavor "river novel trilogy" Research in the direction of a deeper and wider.This article main body part consists of the following chapters:The first chapter introduces the reason for choosing this article, summarizes the study of the Language and Discourse Markers of "river novel trilogy", clarified the theory, method and purpose of this article.In the second chapter, firstly, defined Discourse Markers. Secondly, do Statistical classification of the" river novel trilogy", choose 21 kinds of Discourse Markers, dividing them into the vocabulary form and the non vocabulary form, and then, subdividing the non vocabulary form, concluding the distribution of the Discourse Markers in the sentences.Under the guidance of the coherence theory and relevance theory, the third chapter study the relationship between Discourse Markers and the context. Starting from the text, explore the pragmatic functions of Discourse Markers. After brief analysis of the pragmatic functions of the non vocabulary form Discourse Markers, we analysis the vocabulary form from the perspective of discourse coherence function and human cognitive function.The fourth chapter focuses on the factors influence the use of Discourse Markers and the characteristics of the "river novel trilogy" Discourse Markers. Not only the characteristics of the form, but also the perspective of social linguistics to study the use of Discourse Markers.
