The Research On The Discourse Markers Inba Jin's "Trilogy Of Love"

Discourse markers play an important role in people's daily communication and literary works,and it always be a hot topic for many scholars.The " Trilogy of Love" is one of the novels created by Ba Jin,There are many characters in the novel,they have have strongly colloquialism,and a lot of discourse markers are also used.The research object of this paper is discourse markers in Ba Jin's novel "Trilogy of Love",Through statistical method,quantitative analysis method and other research methods to organize the form of discourse markers in the "Trilogy of Love",to Analysis the Functions of Each Type of Discourse Markers by Category,then Summarize its use characteristics and formation reasons.This paper attempts to enrich the research field of discourse markers,and to provide information and comparative materials for the study of discourse markers in literary works.The full text is divided into the following five parts:The introduction first explains the reason and significance of the topic.Secondly,the definition of discourse markers in this topic is determined by the existing research on the definition and characteristics of discourse markers in academic circles,and distinguished them from other parts of speech.Finally,introduced the research situation of discourse markers at home and abroad.The first chapter introduces the basic situation of discourse markers in the " Trilogy of Love".Firstly,it distinguishes the other uses of all discourse markers,describes the number and frequency of each discourse marker,and counts the distribution and number of each discourse marker in each chapter.Secondly,20 discourse markers are divided into two categories according to their functions,and then into six sub-categories.The first chapter analyses the functions of 20 discourse markers with examples.Firstly,it studies the communicative discourse markers,which mainly play the role of interpersonal interaction,and then discuss the four functions of discourse markers:expressing attitudes,expressing suggestions and seeking common ground,expressingguesses and suggestions,and expressing dialogue and response.Secondly,it studies the structural discourse markers,which mainly play the function of discourse organization,and discusses the two functions of discourse markers,namely,expressive logical relationship and topic organization.In addition,the number of different functions of each discourse marker is counted,briefly described and summarized.The third chapter explores the use and causes of discourse markers in the " Trilogy of Love",they are:There are many kinds and quantities,there are many discourse markers of "person + sensory verb" structure,but lack of variant forms.The reasons are closely related to style,context,speaker's characteristics and intentions,politeness and cooperative principles must to be followed in conversation.
