[Objective]:Compare the differences in filial piety concept between first generation Only-Child parents and Non-Only-Child parents; Explore the endowment willing and filial piety concept of first generation Only-Child parents.[Method]:Quantitative research:The Cognitive Filial Piety Questionnaire (Fan,2009) is used as the tools in this part. Two hundred and eighty-five samples are collected from ten different community committee of Shanghai, including 168 Only-Child parents and 117 Non-Only-Child parents.Qualitative research:This part of research relies on a self-developed visiting syllabus and Kohlberg’s moral dilemma stories to conduct in-depth interviews. The sample is composed of 13 first generation Only-Child parents, including 6 male and 7 female subjects.[Results]:1. In the filial piety concept of first generation Only-Child parents, Yangqinzunqin, Huqinrongqin and Sangzangjinian are more important than Sunqinyanqin.2. In general, there is no major discrepancy in filial piety concept between first generation Only-Child parents and Non-Only-Child parents. However in the perception of Yanqin, Non-Only-Child parents are more recognized than Only-Child parents.3. The gender of children is not an influence factor in the filial piety concept. No matter son or daughter, their parents’filial piety concepts in four dimensions and total point have no difference.4. Self-health condition and spouse condition are the most important factors to influence the first generation Only-Child parents to choose their endowment model. Most of the first generation Only-Child parents have independent endowment willing, and when they are healthy, family endowment is still their primary choice. In case of cannot self-live, they would like to accept the diversity of endowment style.5. First generation Only-Child parents’filial piety concept about their children’s:Children’s personal development as their main purpose; family relationships are more equality; spiritual consolation is more important; material support is not the core anymore; take care of parents and conception of family are still very important.[Conclusion]:1. Most of the first generation Only-Child parents have independent endowment willing. Family endowment is still their primary choice, but they would like to accept the diversity of endowment style.2. The filial piety concept of first generation Only-Child parents to their previous generation differs from that to their next generation.
