Youths are the spring of our country, and their growth and education are closely related to the future of our country. At present, fantasy and time-travel books are appealing to teenagers, however, which are of less beneficial to them. This project was based on the translation of the book which had been awarded as the best youths’ book of USA Library Association -- Fighting Ruben Wolfe. The book, from the first person perspective, gives an account of two teenager brothers, because their family had suffered misfortune, in order to support themselves and their families, they were determined to box to make a living and set up the dignity, which is an inspirational stories. The positive energy in the work can be able to inspire and enlighten readers. The project is based on the Text Type Translation Theory proposed by Reiss. According to Reiss, texts can be divided into three categories--expressive, operative, and informative texts. For each type of text, Reiss suggested corresponding translation strategies. In the project, the author has mainly done following works:1. research the target text and the translation theory carefully, and relate the target text to the theory; 2. the target text was analyzed as mixed type, for it has both the operative and expressive types—expressive text can be revealed by rhetoric to beautify language form, and use some grammatic mistakes in sentence to portray characters’ uninhibited personality and relativly low education level; infective type is expressed by the young heroes’ although unruly, but deep sensible and inspirational quality which can be able to diliver positive energy.3. the translation strategies and rules have been chosen according to the text types. The loan translation and domestication have been applied to the translation of the expressive text, and the same effective translation has been applied to translate operative text to gain the effect the source text had on the source reader. This project combined the Text Type Translation Theory with the youths’ literature. Under guidance of the theory, the author selected corresponding strategies in order to gaurantee the source and target texts would be consistent both in micro and macro perspectives.
