On The Translation Strategies Of Informative-type Text Based On The "Functional Equivalence" Theory Of Eugene Nida

As a cross-culture, cross-linguistic communicative activity, translation is not only the process of translating from one language into another language but also inevitably transfers culture elements. American translation theorist Venuti Proposed a new pair of concepts as translation strategies (domestication and foreignization). And in1980s, the "functional equivalence" theory of Eugene Nida was introduced into China, which led to a prevailing surge of wide-ranged and heated discussion and study. This principle emphasizes the functional equivalence of information instead of the direct formal equivalence in translation so as to keep the meaning and style of the source language functionally equivalent to that of the target language as much as possible.I write this essay aiming at summing up the problems I had in the past two years’ translation study and practice.
