A Study On Li Yuming’s Language Research Of The Twenty-First Century

Since the twenty-first century, there is a new group, known as the Language Life School, emerging in Chinese liguistics. They attach great importance to the protection of language resources, pay great attention to develop multiple language functions and devote to creating harmonious language life. Mr. Li Yuming is the leader of the Language Life School, and he has contributed a lot to linguistic development over a decade. By studying him, we could illustrate the blueprint of the Language Life School and develop an overview of the process of language modernization.This dissertation makes a comprehensive and systematic analysis on Li Yuming’s language research of the new century. We collect his paper, his books and his conference speeches through cnki.net and duxiu.com. On the basis of all the materials relating to his research, we categorize his study into two parts, applied language research and language planning research.The first chapter is the foreword section. On one hand, it summarizes the earlier paper that analyzes Li Yu ming’s language research by accomplishments and defects. On the other hand, it presents the study focus, the target and the method of the dissertation.The second chapter summarizes the applied language research of Li Yuming from disciplinary language research and informative language research.The third chapter introduces the language planning studies of Li Yuming by summarizing them into six divisions, including the status planning, the corpus planning, the prestige planning, the education planning, the security planning and the economic planning.The fourth chapter summarizes the features of Li Yuming’s language study. And it’s listed as follows:long-sighted, highly-tolerant, sharp-eyed, hard-headed, highly-skilled and extremely-patriotic.The fifth chapter discusses the social contribution of Mr. Li’s language study from two perspectives, one is academic impact, and the other is domestic influence.The concluding chapter is an all round summary for the dissertation. This part summarizes the work carried out in the paper, draws some helpful conclusions for the followers and points out the direction for further study. Serving as the leader of the Language Life School, Mr. Li Yuming is still very active in research. His paper will increase year by year, and this dissertation can only analyze the existing materials.At the end of the paper, there is an appendix titled Academic Cooperation between Li Yuming and the Commercial Press. And we are honored to interview Mr. Zhou Hongbo, the general editor of the Commercial Press, for more information as a better way to understand Mr. Li Yuming. We also collect his paper and books by time to form another appendix.
