Innovation And Take Advantage Of Traditional Resources

This thesis investigates recent devlopments in the Lao chang area of JingDeZhen from an anthropoligical point of view and fieldwork. First the thesis try to describe Laochang to be clearly. Significant numbers of young students have come there and set up their own workshops. The thesis try to explain why this phenomenon appear. It would appear that they recognizes the traditional skills of making porcelain are important for them to use. How do they use the traditional skills? With these skills they have been able to add their own creativity to make new works. This has had the effect of both adding new ideas to traditional craft but more importantly giving new life to the old traditional skills which are regarded as a valuable and vibrant resource rather than a dying tradition. It has transformed itself from a heritage to the transformation of the resources.
