Rising in the 20s and 30s of last century in Europe, situational teaching is a new method specially applying for foreign languages teaching, which began to be widely used in the 90s of last century in our country. Situational teaching method requires a teacher, with the help of pictures, material objects, multimedia, games, performances and so forth as teaching approaches, to present what substance the person wants to teach in a vivid and visual form, and by establishing teaching situations, to arouse the initiative and enthusiasm of the students, to cultivate the students’ interest for study, to help the students understand the content of learning, to make the classroom teaching vivid and interesting, and hence to assist the students to have a good command of speech skill. In the course of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, listening and speaking are very important skills for the students to develop their ability of communication in Chinese. At present, there are fewer research results about how to apply situational teaching method for listening and speaking of Chinese teaching as a foreign language, leaving much room of research to be desired.In the fall semester of 2014, I made an extensive use of situational teaching in-class, when I was doing the intern in the School of International Education of Anhui University, gave listening and speaking lectures to intermediate Chinese classes. In this article, I have selected the case of in-class teaching designing for eight class hours, and through a detailed analysis of the progress of in-class teaching as well as the examination results of the students, to make a study of the feasibility and availability of situational teaching applying for listening and speaking lectures of intermediate teaching of Chinese as a foreign language. Then by means of a questionnaire, I have examined the feedback from the students about the effect of the in-class teaching, and further made an analysis of the effect of situational teaching in practice as well as the problems remained still. And finally, I put forward reasonable and effective suggestions about situational teaching used for listening and speaking lectures of intermediate Chinese teaching, with an aim at providing better service for teaching Chinese as a foreign language.There are 6 chapters in this article, with the specific contents as follow:Chapter 1 tells about the aim and significance of the thesis research, making an outline of the relative basis of theory and an introduction of the research status and approaches about situational teaching used for teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Chapter 2 deals with the relative backgrounds about the designing of listening and speaking lectures for intermediate Chinese teaching as a foreign language, introducing curriculum designing, textbook analysis, teaching objects and ways of investigation and illustrating the methods, objectives, designing ideas and focal points of teaching.Chapter 3 is concerned about the specific cases of listening and speaking lecture designing of intermediate teaching of Chinese, including the basic conditions of teaching such as curriculum types, teaching content, teaching objects, teaching methods and teaching tools, as well as a detailed teaching plan design for 8 class hours with a teaching reflection and a brief teaching summary.In Chapter 4, I expound the findings about the teaching plan and make a statistical analysis of the teaching effect, giving an introduction of the investigating results of the questionnaire designing through graphs and charts, and making a statistical analysis of the results of the final exams.Chapter 5 is a summary of listening and speaking lectures of intermediate teaching of Chinese as a foreign language. I make an explanation of the feasibility and availability of situational teaching as well as its problems still remained in practice, put forward my suggestions about situational teaching used for listening and speaking lectures as well as about listening and speaking materials used for teaching of Chinese.Chapter 6 is the summary of this article.
