Listening and speaking skills play an important role in students’ daily communication and are the top priority of language skills.During the internship,author found that the students’ learning motivation was not strong,their classroom participation enthusiasm was not high,students are silent,and the classroom atmosphere was dull.In order to solve these problems,this paper tries to apply the multi-modal teaching and task-based teaching method to intermediate Chinese listening and speaking class,so as to design and implement classroom teaching.Under the guidance of multimodal theory and task-based teaching method,teachers make full use of multimodal resources with advanced teaching methods,create real communication situations,and set up various classroom activities in the classroom,aiming to enhance the interest of intermediate Chinese listening and speaking class,improve the classroom atmosphere,and improve the effectiveness and practicality of listening and speaking class teaching.Based on the multimodal theory,this paper designs the intermediate Chinese listening and speaking course in the framework of task-based language teaching mode.Firstly,the paper explains the theoretical basis of this study,summarizes the basic framework of task-based teaching based on multimodal theory,and analyzes the feasibility of applying task-based teaching based on multimodal theory to Chinese listening and speaking courses from teaching object,teaching condition and teaching content.Secondly,according to the preliminary theoretical analysis and teaching status investigation of the study,This paper take "Talking about Travel Plan" as an example for teaching design and implementation.Finally,after the completion of the teaching implementation,the questionnaire survey method and interview methods are used to comprehensively evaluate the teaching effect of task-based teaching based on multi-modal theory in the teaching of intermediate Chinese listening and speaking courses,and author reflect on the teaching according to their own teaching practice and the feedback from students and teachers.In the whole process of teaching design and implementation,it can be found that task-based teaching based on multimodal theory has obvious advantages.It can make full use of modal resources and optimize teaching methods.To arouse students’ study interest and improve their study enthusiasm.To ensure effective language input and output.But there are limitations that teachers need to overcome.According to the situation of teaching design and implementation,this paper puts forward some suggestions from the aspects of teaching preparation and classroom practice for the teaching of listening and speaking,such as rationally selecting the mode,strengthening the cooperation between the modes,and designing hierarchical and appropriate task activities.
