A Study On The Creation Of Pingju Opera Of 21st Century

In the creation and performance practice of Chinese opera, Pingju opera is one of the most dynamic and energetic types of drama. Cheng zhaocai, an outstanding Chinese modern playwright and famous opera performer in north China as well as the founder of Pingju opera, created hundreds of excellent works and established the model of Pingju’s script and its features. After entering the 21st century, many art workers who devote themselves to Pingju opera have created many favorable works with the mission of revitalizing national culture, praising new merit of recent times and promoting harmonious society. Among those works, the modern operas and new history operas are particularly popular, making Pingju opera become one of the most influential local operas in China.Based on the 1st to 9th Chinese Pingju Opera Festival, this paper aims to discover and conclude new situation and problems occurred in the creation of Pingju opera, with creating modern operas, sorting and recomposing historical and traditional genres as research objectives. Besides, achievements and problems of Pingju’s creation will be stated through these works. Meanwhile, they reflect the art features and development law of Pingju’s creation, so the blank of Pingju opera’s research since 2000 will be filled and great contributions will be made to improve the future development of Pingju opera’s creation.
