In recent years, researches on interpreting and relevant subjects have beendeveloped rapidly. However, academic researches on interpreting testing and liaisoninterpreting testing have been ignored. Grounded on Bachman’s CommunicativeLanguage Ability, Test Usefulness Model and the Assessment Use Argument, thispaper takes the final test of liaison interpreting course in SISU as study subject, adopting both quantitative and qualitative method to justify its use. With the datafrom interpreting teachers in other universities, suggestions are provided for furtherimprovement. The research adopts quantitative method in terms of reliability of the test.Juniors 2012 from College of Interpretation and Translation in SISU are required totake a liaison interpreting test, which is designed by two teachers who taught themliaison interpreting and gave them a test one year ago. Scores of every part areprovided by the teachers and are used to calculate the Cronbach’s coefficient.Involving everything in designing a liaison interpreting test seems arduous. Therefore, this paper focuses on reliability of the test. Moreover, Data obtained fromquestionnaires and the empirical study should be better integrated. The conclusion is that the Cronbach’s coefficient of SISU liaison interpretingtest is 0.747. The test is reliable yet still needs to be improved for higher reliability. What’s more, according to the statistics from questionnaires, current liaisoninterpreting test is justified. Suggestions are also provided, which are of somerelevance to the development and use of liaison interpreting testing.
