Chinese traditional drama as a successor of Chinese traditional culture is an art form highly condensed with characteristics of individuality aesthetics. The basic aesthetical ideology of traditional culture is mirrored in its costumes and masks, which synthesize the aesthetic implication of decoration, exaggerated formal beauty, life succinct summary and mimic of personality. Numerous creation subjects and inspiration can be digged out both from costumes’ color style and masks’visual pattern, and furthermore, the connotation of national and traditional culture carried by. "Dao" taken for the soul of traditional aesthetics can be reflected out from the artistic connotation and culture spirits contained in Beijing opera costumes and masks, by virtue of fitted expression means, in the meanwhile, make a positive and inspiring affect to people. In the globalized world era, National is the world. Watercolor painting should be developed trending the Chinese traditional culture so as to flourish in China today.This article gives a study on the visible and invisible imagery of Chinese traditional drama, analyses the culture connotation and expression of emotion in the Beijing opera costumes and masks art. A creation and expression means is summarized, which could try to be utilized as an artistic element in the practices of water color painting.
