The thesis attempts to interpret the androgyny in Virginia Woolf’s A Room of One’s Own from the feminist perspective. A Room of One’s Own particularly reflects her creation style and thoughts about female’s rights, which is like a bright light pointing out the direction for the future female writing and the development of the feminist movement. The thesis is divided into six chapters to study and explore the androgyny in A Room of One’s Own. The first chapter is the introduction to Virginia Woolf, her literary works and the basic structure of the thesis. The second chapter is the analysis for studies of Virginia Woolf and her work at home and abroad. The third chapter introduces the feminist theory, the origins and development of androgyny. The fourth chapter studies the formation, argumentation and demonstration of Woolf s androgyny. The fifth chapter is to explore the practical significance of Woolf s androgyny. The last chapter summarizes the thesis. In a word, the androgyny is important for the harmonious development of males, females and the whole human beings.
